Don’t Be Nice, Be Real: Authentic Parenting, Kelly Bryson, MFT

Don’t you hate it when your child whines?  Can you image engaging them in a way that shifts them into a more empowered empathetic emotional state? One of the most important things a parent can do is to model for his child to never give up or give in on his own needs while remaining empathic to others needs. Learn how to create “natural giving” in which family members give to one another rather than give in or up. Through empathy and transparent honesty conflict becomes a source of growth, increased intimacy and self-discovery rather than a diminishing of autonomy through coercion.  Learn to teach children empathy for others.  Learn to hear the needs behind your child’s “No!”  Learn how to teach your child to follow his heart while supporting him in self-responsible choosing.  Learn to put the “CO” back into “cooperate.”

Kelly Bryson MA, MFT is the author of the best selling book, Don't be Nice, Be Real - Balancing Passion for Self with Compassion for Others. A Handbook to Nonviolent Communication™ Kelly is licensed marriage and family therapist and life coach in private practice. To learn more, visit Kelly's website, www.LanguageOfCompassion.com or call 831-462-EARS (3277).
